I’ve been taking it easy this June. One of the greatest benefits of being self-employed is being able to slow down a bit in the summer so long as I keep up on work. In addition to selling crochet patterns I’ve also started an organic catnip business with my husband, and officially became an employee of his graphic design/marketing company. We’ve found a way to earn income in many different ways while not overworking ourselves, and I love the time it gives me to enjoy the summer while I can!

I’ve felt a bit slower this month than previous months when it comes to crochet projects, but I’m okay with that. The last thing I want to do it get burned out, or force myself to crank out patterns without being entirely invested in the designs.  So here’s everything I crocheted this June!

🐚 Beachy Mosaic Plant Hanger

Pattern: My original design - pattern here on etsy!
Yarn: Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/6 in Oatmilk, Beige and Brown
Hook: G (4.25 mm)

You may recognize this pattern from my May blog post - maybe you’ve even made one for yourself! This time around I grabbed some neutral, beachy inspired colors of Hobbii cotton yarn to craft up the perfect birthday gift for my sister! She used to live near the beach and I know she misses it constantly, and I somehow always end up making her beach inspired things. Last summer, I made her this seashell vest (& the dreamcatcher!) for her birthday, still one of my favorite projects, and a pattern I consider returning to to add one to my own wardrobe!

Using these colors for this pattern proved to me that the possibilities are endless for this design! It looks so different from the first one I made, and I’ve got even more color combinations in mind. It’s fun to follow my own patterns sometimes, and good to make sure they work up seamlessly!

🌺 Boxy Blooms Cardigan

Pattern: by EvelynandPeter
Yarn: Hobbii Rainbow Bamboo in Dusty Pink Velvet – 3 skeins
Hook: G (4.25 mm)

I was in no way planning to make this top, in fact I already had a different project started, but when I saw the pattern release on instagram I just had to snag it! I really loved this pattern, puff stitches can be so much fun. It was a repeat of four different rows and each one was super unique. It came out too short when I first finished and I had to add some more rows, but it all worked out in the end!

I’d had the dusty pink velvet yarn in my stash with no project plan, and I knew it was the perfect color for this cozy cardigan. This is the latest in a long line of tops I’ve made from Hobbii Bamboo and as usual, I’m loving it! It’s so soft and lightweight but also sturdy. I’m officially out of colors in my stash, so I’ll be here waiting for the next time it goes on sale again….

🧡 Burst Plant Hanger

Pattern: My original design - pattern here on etsy!
Yarn: Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/6 in Oatmilk, Thistle, Whiskey, Eucalyptus & Pistachio
Hook: G (4.25 mm)

I am OBSESSED with how this project turned out. I wanted to make something groovy for my craft room, and these scooby-doo gang inspired colors hit the mark! For this one I changed up the order of the colors for each square and I’m loving how it looks. Check out some of the content on instagram to see the full effect!

The burst granny square can easily be made into sunflowers using the right colors, which I’m really hoping to see someone do! (If not, I may have to do so myself 🌻) This is the first pattern I released that sold on the same day, and that was such a great feeling. I’m really enjoying turning granny squares into triangles and making these plant hangers, and they’ve sure been popular so far so absolutely more to come!

On the Hook for July ☀️

The last two summers, when I was first getting into crocheting, I tended to spend the bulk of my time making gifts for other people. While that’s lovely, I’m looking forward to making myself some more gifts during my birthday month this July 😝I’ve started to focus a lot more on building my own wardrobe this year, and it’s been so rewarding.

I’ve got a couple more summery tops planned for the coming months and lots of new pattern ideas circulating in my head. Another plant hanger pattern is definitely coming in July (a little late for summer solstice, but think along those vibes…) AND I’m really hoping to start crafting some clothing patterns of my own, I just have to narrow down the many ideas I’ve got and settle on a few!

Until next time - happy stitching!
